He Said Yes WE Can

I voted for Barack Obama, Democrat of Illinois, to be the 44th President of the United States of America. I feel that he is uniquely qualified to fill this humbling position. He may be the first President in my lifetime, even with the challenges before him, who may life up to his promises.
Mr. Obama has the ability to not only quantify, but qualify his positions and ideals. I believe this gift manifests itself because of his life experiences. Born the son of an African father and a white American mother, he has lived in both worlds and has drawn keen observations as a black American and as the grandchild raised by his white grandparents. The maturity and tenacity of his grandparents, to hear him speak of them, balanced his own experiences as a community organizer in the "streets of Chicago." Mr. Obama's time in Indonesia, though he was a young child, no doubt impressed upon him a servant's heart and a charge to help those who are destitute and not as fortunate as he has been.
Obama's life in Hawaii shows through in the calm demeanor and methodical thinker that we see on a daily basis. All of these particular attributes not only allow Mr. Obama to humble himself in deference to others' ideas by lending an ear to those who think like him in given circumstances, but also to respect and infuse the ideals of those who think differently than he does. The 44th President of the United States of America thinks differently than any President that I can recollect. Although a Democrat, he has sought out a working relationship with Republicans and has won the confidence in him and from others.
I believe there are some ideas that Mr. Obama has espoused that he may have to take a second look into and may even have to reverse course. In the days of Bill Clinton the TV commentators and political pundits referred to this as "waffling;" the idea of changing one's mind/opinion/decision. The situations that this country is facing may require some of that change of mind, depending upon the ebb and flow of dynamics of the world economy, world political unrest and simply the security of this country's borders and her people. I would have given my all to have had a President doing this in the past 8 years.
