On Friday, April 23, the School of Business held their Awards Banquet in the Garrison Banquet Hall to honor exceptional students and induct a new member into the School of Business Hall of Fame.

"It seemed like a really special night," said Dean of the School of Business Margaret Hoskins.

"For our faculty and staff, it is a time to take pride in and recognize the exceptional students that we have taught," said Hoskins. "For parents, this is an event that reassures you that you must have done something right in the rearing of your child."

About 160 people attended the event. Former School of Business professors, including Lewis Dawkins, Don Dodson, Lois Dodson and Stella Spoon, attended. Hoskins described the night as "good food, good fellowship and just an overall good time."
Hoskins explained what it takes for students to win these awards.

"It's not just academics," Hoskins said. "It's the whole package… attitude, work ethic… and the need is considered."

Students awarded for performance in accounting were Sunny Manandhar, Maria Gerba, Rusalina Ivanova, Hope Warner, Matthew Kirkpatrick, Devona Anderson, Edyta Schranz and Louisa Clift.

Students awarded for performance in Finance were Lauren Wilcox and Traci Cargile.

Students awarded for performance in Marketing were Trevor Allen and Matthew G. Bold.

Tisha Martinez was awarded for Outstanding Management Graduate, Chad Ericson was awarded for Outstanding Business Law Student, Josh Sullivan was awarded for Outstanding Business Information Systems Graduate, Datrail Bennett was awarded the Oscar and Eathel Greenberg Scholarship and Ben Sivertson was awarded the Tad and Judy Krug Scholarship.

"These students all have such a good work ethic," said Hoskins. "Just good people."

Students also presented the Students' Choice Award to Frank Smith, who advises students in the Ross Whipple Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF). Smith was also presented with the award for Faculty Excellence in research.
