Ignorance is Bliss

Recently there was a tragic shooting on the Fort Hood military base in Texas.
Major Nidal Malik shot and killed 13, wounding an additional 30. All I can hear about the event, though, is "Muslim Muslim Muslim Muslim Muslim."
Yeah, he was Muslim. Does that matter? Does that pertain to the shooting? Was that what killed everyone? No, the gun in the hand of a disturbed man killed everyone. I'm about to say something very controversial to my usual readers, but let me be very clear. Muslims do not hate Americans.
Now, paste your paper back together, and keep reading. And just go ahead and get another copy in advance because I'm sure there won't be a scrap left after this.
Muslims worship GOD.
OK, back to where you were before you frothed black bile and cursed my soul? Good. Yeah. Muslims worship God. The key difference in Christianity and Islam is that Muslims do not believe Christ was the Messiah, and they believe Muhammad was the last prophet of God.
In 1997, Al Qaeda issued a Fatwa which condemned western culture, and directed all true Muslims to kill any American they could, and that though murder is a sin, killing an American was completely justifiable. A Fatwa in the Muslim faith is a directive, an order, which some sects consider binding, and some do not. The problem with the information we get over here is we only hear "Muslim." Al Qaeda is not the mouthpiece of Islam, though. A lot of us don't know the difference between
Muslims and Muslim extremists. It's pretty much the difference between white people and the KKK.
So the fact that this man was a Muslim should change NOTHING. It should most definitely not create more avarice for Muslims among Americans. It has nothing at all to do with Muslims; again, it has to do with the issues of one man.
My request is that news outlets stop doing so much damned reporting on the fact that the man was Muslim. It's pointless. Do you point out the religion of white guys who commit office shootings? Like the guy in Florida who just took out his coworkers?
NO. So just leave it alone. You're obviously secretly just hoping that people will watch, seething about those freaking Muslims.
Personally I think Muslims are awesome.
They're some of the kindest people you could meet, almost universally. It's like the world's kindest stereotype. Everyone I've met was wonderful to be around. Or horribly perverted, in one case, which is still fun.
