It seems like knocking off third-party apps would doom the iPad altogether.

Time will tell.

However, the general response
from those interested in the iPad is a mixed one.

This strange set of events seem strangely familiar.

The lack of app support seems to say "we're not done yet."

It doesn't make sense that the iPad would NEVER support
third-party apps, so the only conclusion to draw is that this is a coming feature.

This would mean that early adopters of the iPad will be burned by the release of the "iPad 2nd Gen."

This would be consistent with the release of the iPhone.

The familiarity of these lacking features is perhaps on the tip of your tongue.

It's very reminiscent of the release of Windows Vista.

Microsoft had advertised a release date for Vista and, afraid to miss it, sent out a half-hearted attempt at an Operating System and decided
to fix it with updates.

This is obviously bad form, as Vista is still regarded as one of the largest tech failures
of the 2000s.

The ideal fix for the app support issues and lack of flash support is updates.

Although it didn't work so well for Vista, as long as the iPad does everything it's currently
advertised to do without
a glitch, it will likely be a happy wait for early adopters.

Despite its shortcomings, the iPad is quite the gizmo, but it's only an uphill battle from here.

Let's hope it doesn't go the way of the Segway before that happens.

"This sleight of speech, combined with the fact that third-party app creation won't be supported by iPad, make it appear that no third-party apps from the iPhone will be compatible with the iPad. (Continued…)
