"We feel that this new visitation policy was a good move for Henderson State University."
Students are pleased that their wishes did not go unheard,
and the new policy has become a hit.
"I like the new visitation policy better than the old," said Brittany Jackson, sophomore
biology major.
"It's much more convenient
to only have to check in the opposite gender after 4 p.m. rather than making several
trips to check everyone in afternoon."
Regarding working the front desk at Smith Hall, Alexandra
Boyd, junior sociology
major, said, "It gets complicated
when people want to check guests in at 3:30 p.m. instead of 4, but I like the current
policy because it gives residents more freedom.
"We're in college so you shouldn't be on a leash like you're still in high school."
The Residence Life staff seems to be pleased with the results as well.
"Changes in the visitation policy, the new steps behind West Hall and the new ping pong tables are all examples of what students brought forward
to us," said Mabery.
"We want to strengthen the relationship between students
and our staff, and we want to show them that we will constantly be listening to the needs of our students."
